My name is Alex, I’m twenty and I’ve always had two great passions in my life: writing and eating.
(Well, depending on how you look at it. I also have great love for sailing, petting small animals, martial arts, small spaces, tiny versions of normal sized things, tattoos, and following people with dreadlocks home. But mostly writing and eating.)
So when I moved out of my family home on the 19th of September 2013 to become a full time student in an entirely different country the most exciting prospect to me was not the parties, or the late nights, or the freedom of not having to text my mum where I was and who I was with and when I’d be home; it was the fact I could choose what to eat and when to eat it.
I wanted dinner at 10 o’clock I could do it.
I wanted curry? Curry night it was.
Steak? Yes please. (Oh wait… I spent all my money on jaeger and vodka this week)
This is where I’m going to document my journey into the massive culinary world. From clumsy attempts at pastry to how -the-hell-does-mum-make-her-spaghetti-bolognaise-taste-like-that-we-both-used-exactly-the-same-recipe, it’s my way of showing that student life doesn’t necessarily mean pasta and pot noodles but can be tasty, fresh, and made on a budget.
(Even if it never quite tastes the way mum makes it.)
Always nice to read other student blogs!
